With “Neurotronik (Analog Acid Rework)”, Marc Henry brings an earlier idea back into the present — not as a nostalgic reissue, but as a dry, direct and resolutely analogue reconstruction. The track appears on the B1 side of SALP 001, the first vinyl release from the Skyline Archive label.
Marc Henry represents the deeper, more technical and more uncompromising production identity of the same artist who, under the name Phil Rodriguez, embodies the melodic and emotionally open side of his work. Where Phil Rodriguez works with voices, harmony and long arcs of tension, Marc Henry focuses on signal, repetition, machines and physical impact.
From signal to groove
The starting point for “Neurotronik” lies in the sonic world of R&S Records and in a very specific understanding of how electronic music can work: not through as many elements as possible, but through the precise transformation of a single signal.
A central inspiration was the tribal voice in “Mama” by Neuro. For Marc Henry, the voice is not used as a conventional vocal or a decorative sample. It becomes rhythmic material — an impulse that is repeated, reduced and processed until it loses its original meaning and merges entirely into the groove.
The original Acid Mix, heard in Tiësto’s Club Life 160 in 2010, already used the TB-303 to create depth and hypnosis. For the new Analog Acid Rework, this foundation was opened up again and radically stripped back to its essential components.
Dry, upfront and without distraction
The rework opens with a hard, completely unadorned kick drum. Above it sit open hi-hats that seem to come almost untreated, straight from a TR-909. No unnecessary effects, no overloaded drama — just pressure, space and repetition.
The long introduction demands patience and attention. Marc Henry deliberately allows the track to take shape slowly. Small changes within the rhythm shift perception, while the TB-303’s acid sequence gradually moves into the foreground.
As saturation increases, the sound gains density and physical presence. The acid line is not deployed as a spectacular climax, but as a continuous tension running through the entire track. Every element has a clear function; nothing has been added simply to fill a gap.
It is precisely this reduction that makes “Neurotronik (Analog Acid Rework)” so effective. The track remains raw and controlled at the same time. Its energy does not come from a sudden drop, but from the progressive thickening of the material.
At the end, a small dissonant pad appears, deliberately leaving the previously accumulated tension unresolved. The track closes without really ending — as though the signal were continuing beyond the recording.
The archive as a living process
Skyline Archive was founded in 2026 by Phil Rodriguez to release historical recordings, unfinished ideas and new productions within a shared context. The archive is not understood as a museum. Material from the past is not simply to be preserved, but reactivated and moved into a new physical and cultural environment.
This idea also shapes SALP 001. The label’s first vinyl release brings together three different identities on one 12-inch:
- Side A: Phil Rodriguez – Hold Me (Original Club Mix)
- Side B1: Marc Henry – Neurotronik (Analog Acid Rework)
- Side B2: Wippe Roma – Saga (Marc Henry Rework)
Mastering and vinyl cutting have been entrusted to Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios. Pressing is planned at Record Industry in Haarlem. The sonic exploration behind “Neurotronik” is thus transferred directly into the physical groove.
The track has already received support from Anthony Pappa, who rated it four out of five: “Nice tune. Thank you.” In addition, 17 plays have been recorded on Tekno1 Radio, while MGZC Radio has also added the track to its programming. Obstructor placed “Neurotronik” fourth in his edition of Reclaim Your City 695.
With “Neurotronik (Analog Acid Rework)”, Marc Henry does not simply look back. He isolates an earlier idea, removes everything unnecessary and brings it into the present with analogue pressure, hypnotic repetition and uncompromising precision.
