With 2 Guys On The Rock, the studio became a passage between French production, progressive culture and international DJ circulation.

In My Mind

Pole Folder is not a passing name in a list. Closely tied to John Digweed’s Bedrock history, he created Zero Gold, the first artist album commissioned by the label. He then invited 2 Guys On The Rock to reinterpret In My Mind. Released by Restart Records on 9 January 2008, their remix reached No. 1 in the Top 5 published by Freeze Magazine.

The track specifically accompanies Carl Cox’s arrival in Miami for Ultra Music Festival. Not a passing mention: a piece of music embedded inside an official portrait of an electronic music figure.

Neurotronik belongs to a musical language Marc Henry had already established by 2010: deep groove, repetition, acid tension, analogue texture and hypnotic progression. Sampled from Mama by Neuro / Neuro Project — released by R&S Records in 1993 — the tribal voice acts as a signal rather than a narrative. The TB-303 is used not as an effect but as an instrument of depth. The genre may change; the state it creates does not.

Fashionable.

The return under the Phil Rodriguez name began here: a more open, melodic and immediate production, introduced to an international professional audience through dedicated circulation on Clair Obscur / Diki Records.

For Fashionable, then Shadows, Phil Rodriguez chose to extend the studio work himself through an independent communications initiative, pursued with the same standards as the musical production. The need to defend each project all the way through would become one of the founding motivations behind SKYLINE ARCHIVE.
