The turning point
There came a moment when defending the music was no longer enough.
It needed a home of its own.
Projects had found listeners, support and sometimes signatures. But their stories remained fragmented: sound in one place, image elsewhere, and timing too often set by others. Gradually, one truth became clear: to accompany a work with coherence, creation, narrative and transmission had to be brought together under one vision.
Skyline Archive was born from that passage — not as a refuge, but as a decision. The decision to give artists, records and the relationships that make them possible a space where the standard never stops at the master.

Before Skyline Archive
To understand that decision, we must return to an earlier name: Wippe Roma.
Wippe Roma was never conceived as a marketing name. It grew from the meeting of William Marcoux and Philippe Rodriguez: two names, two sensibilities and one shared desire to create. Before there was a label, there was already this instinct to make music with identity and meaning.

The first major milestone
JD FAIRLIGHT
JD Fairlight, the artistic name of Jean-Denis Catelan, co-founded Global Music Group with Philippe Rodriguez in 2005. Years later, his album project reconnected that shared history with the genesis of Skyline Archive. More than an isolated release, it called for a home capable of protecting a complete work and accompanying it over time.
Born from Jean-Denis’s many journeys and his deep love for Sweden, the album is personal rather than strategic. It carries places, distance and memory. Giving this work the time and future it deserves helped turn Skyline Archive from an idea into a responsibility.
Three decades of experience
Skyline Archive did not appear overnight. It carries more than thirty years of studio work, dancefloors, collaborations, remixes and label experience. None of that is displayed here as nostalgia or a list of credentials.
What remains is a way of working: listen before deciding, give each record the time it asks for, protect what makes it singular, and never confuse speed with direction.
Why Skyline Archive?
That decision took shape through the projects themselves. The feedback received for Saga through Reaktion, followed by the signing of Fashionable and Shadows to Diki Records, confirmed that music could find its audience without its story being accompanied in full continuity. Skyline Archive therefore chose to take responsibility for the entire gesture: sound, image, narrative, circulation and the long view. Independence is not a retreat; it is the responsibility to remain faithful to the work and to stand behind every choice.

Sound & artistic philosophy
A record can be perfectly produced and leave nothing behind. Skyline Archive searches for the opposite: music with depth, dynamics, space and texture, but above all with a human trace. Technology serves the intention. Impact never comes at the expense of emotion. The purpose is not to sound current for a moment, but to remain true over time.

The identities today
Identity I
Phil Rodriguez is the part of the story that stays closest to the heart: melody as memory, emotion without disguise, and the patience to let a piece reveal itself. This is where personal experience becomes something to share.
Identity II
Marc Henry is the necessary counterpoint: a more private, nocturnal space where instinct takes over and sound is allowed to become rougher, deeper and freer. It gives a voice to what melody alone cannot say.
In development
Completing JD Fairlight’s album is not a nostalgic return. It is the continuation of a shared history, guided by the patience and care the work deserves.
Future works
Future Wippe Roma titles may bring William Marcoux and Philippe Rodriguez’s shared identity back into the active catalogue — not to repeat the first chapter, but to create again from its original energy.
